Microsoft is also adding an option to reset the Recall data in Windows 11

Overview

  • Microsoft rolled out AI agents in the Windows 11 Insider Preview Dev channel, enabling eligible users on Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs with English locale to adjust Settings via natural language prompts.
  • Windows 11 Insiders in the European Economic Area can now export encrypted Recall snapshots to third-party apps and websites using a unique one-time export code.
  • Sharing Recall snapshots requires Windows Hello authentication and entry of the export code to decrypt the data, and lost codes can only be replaced by resetting Recall and deleting all saved snapshots.
  • Users can choose to export past seven days, 30 days or all existing snapshots in a one-off operation or enable continuous export that can be stopped at any time.
  • Microsoft reduced Recall’s default maximum storage on new Copilot+ PCs from unlimited to 90 days to limit retained data.
