Overview
- Microsoft released out‑of‑band patches on January 17 to resolve Remote Desktop authentication failures and a shutdown/hibernate bug on Secure Launch devices.
- The Remote Desktop issue affected the Windows App on client PCs as well as Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365 sessions across multiple Windows versions.
- Windows 11 version 23H2 devices with Secure Launch were restarting instead of shutting down or entering hibernation, which is addressed by the emergency update.
- Key packages include KB5077744 for Windows 11 25H2/24H2 and KB5077797 for Windows 11 23H2, with additional server and Windows 10 updates available from the Update Catalog.
- Microsoft says Outlook Classic can still crash with POP accounts and reports also note unacknowledged UI glitches, so some issues remain unresolved.
