Microsoft Sets 2033 Deadline for Quantum‑Safe Shift, With Early Adoption by 2029

  • The Quantum Safe Program will prioritize signing and network services in 2026, then begin rolling quantum-safe standards into Windows, Azure, Microsoft 365, data platforms, AI services and networking in 2027.
  • Microsoft has added NIST-selected ML-KEM and ML-DSA to SymCrypt, the core cryptographic library underpinning Windows, Azure and Microsoft 365.
