Microsoft Rolls Out AI Teammates for Microsoft 365: Collaborative Agents in Preview, Meeting Facilitator Now Generally Available

Built on Microsoft Graph with enterprise-grade governance, the agents operate inside existing Microsoft 365 data boundaries.

Overview

  • Microsoft introduced collaboration-focused agents for Microsoft 365 Copilot users, with channel and community agents in public preview and the Facilitator agent for Teams meetings now generally available.
  • Facilitator prepares agendas, captures decisions and notes in real time, assigns follow-ups, generates documents during meetings, and can complete select tasks autonomously.
  • Teams channels and Viva Engage communities can host specialized agents that summarize threads, draft plans and status reports, schedule checkpoints, answer common questions with citations, and coordinate tasks.
  • A SharePoint Knowledge Agent organizes and tags project files, connects related content across meetings and channels, and surfaces authoritative answers with source citations.
  • Microsoft says the agents respect existing permissions and compliance controls, with admin management available; separate reporting describes a GitHub coding agent and sizable administrative time savings, which are early claims and in preview.
