Overview

• The final 25H2 build (26200.6584) is available now via ISO, the Media Creation Tool, and through Windows Update for devices with the “get the latest updates” option enabled and fully patched.
• Because 25H2 shares its codebase with 24H2, most features also arrive on 24H2 through enablement or mini‑updates, so immediate full upgrades are largely optional.
• Microsoft highlights security advances under its Secure Future initiative and removes legacy tools, with PowerShell 2.0 and WMIC no longer included in Windows.
• Preview update KB5065789 for 24H2 began rolling out on September 29 with Explorer AI actions for images and Copilot document summaries for OneDrive/SharePoint, which require Microsoft 365 plus a Copilot license and roll out over one to three weeks with some regional limits.
• Enterprises can deploy 25H2 via WSUS starting October 14, Home and Pro get two more years of support on 25H2, and Microsoft flags a known issue with DRM playback in some Blu‑Ray/DVD apps as well as Secure Boot certificate preparations targeting June 2026.
