Microsoft Releases PowerToys 0.97 With CursorWrap and a More Capable Command Palette

The open-source Windows toolkit is available via the Microsoft Store and GitHub with deeper Command Palette customization.

Overview

  • CursorWrap ‘teleports’ the pointer across screen edges, working from one to nine displays based on the system’s logical layout.
  • Command Palette gains personalization with background images and tinting, plus fallback ranking to reorder results.
  • A new built-in extension lets users toggle PowerToys utilities from Command Palette, with Peek file previews integrated into the launcher.
  • Additional upgrades include a Remote Desktop extension, selectable web search engines, expanded CLI control for FancyZones, Image Resizer and File Locksmith, and a faster undocked Quick Access flyout.
  • Early hands-on reports note top/bottom edge wrapping can hinder some actions and describe a reproducible display-detection bug when closing a laptop with an external monitor after enabling CursorWrap.
