Microsoft Raises Xbox Series X/S Prices in U.S. Again Effective Oct. 3

Microsoft attributes the U.S.-only increases to a “macroeconomic environment,” a move analysts say reflects tariff pressures.

Overview

  • The new recommended prices are Xbox Series S 512GB at $399.99, Series S 1TB at $449.99, Series X Digital at $599.99, Series X at $649.99, and Series X 2TB Galaxy Black at $799.99.
  • This is the second U.S. price hike in 2025, lifting the Series X by a cumulative $150 and the Series S by $100 in roughly six months.
  • Microsoft says controller and headset pricing is unchanged, and console prices outside the United States are not affected in this round.
  • The $799.99 2TB Galaxy Black model now tops the $749.99 PS5 Pro, and the $599.99 Series X Digital is $50 more than Sony’s PS5 Digital Edition.
  • The increase follows a broader industry shift after spring hikes by Microsoft and subsequent price moves by Sony and Nintendo cited across coverage.
