Microsoft Phases Out Office Feature Updates on Windows 10 Starting August 2026

Security updates for Office apps will continue until October 2028, following the phased cutoff of feature releases that begins in August 2026.

  • Monthly Enterprise Channel users lose feature updates on October 13, 2026, with Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel users cut off on January 12, 2027.
  • Security and bug-fix patches for Office apps on Windows 10 will continue until October 10, 2028.
  • Microsoft’s updated support guidance says Windows 10 users facing issues unique to that OS must upgrade to Windows 11 for fixes, with limited troubleshooting offered.
  • The policy shift is designed to drive migration to Windows 11 as Windows 10 reached its end of support in October 2025 and many devices remain on the legacy platform.
