Overview
- Microsoft released out-of-band updates on January 17 to resolve Remote Desktop credential failures and a shutdown/hibernate regression introduced by January 13 security updates.
- Key packages include KB5077744 for Windows 11 25H2/24H2 and KB5077797 for Windows 11 23H2, plus KB5077796 for Windows 10 ESU/LTSC and server fixes KB5077793, KB5077800, and KB5077795.
- Remote sign-in issues affected multiple platforms, including Windows 11 25H2, Windows 10 22H2 ESU, and Windows Server releases, while the shutdown problem was limited to Windows 11 23H2 devices with Secure Launch.
- Microsoft advises enterprises to use Known Issue Rollback via Group Policy if they cannot deploy the out-of-band updates, and it documented a manual shutdown command (shutdown /s /t 0) as a temporary workaround.
- An Outlook Classic crash affecting POP accounts remains unfixed, and users have also reported unacknowledged UI glitches such as temporary black screens, wallpaper resets, and desktop.ini issues.
