Overview
- Microsoft released KB5071959 as an out-of-band update that repairs the Windows 10 Consumer ESU enrollment wizard failures blocking eligible devices.
- After installing KB5071959, users should run the ESU enrollment wizard, then check for updates to receive the November ESU cumulative (KB5068781).
- KB5071959 is offered only to devices not yet enrolled in ESU; machines already enrolled will receive KB5068781 normally without the OOB fix.
- The November ESU update delivers Patch Tuesday security fixes for Windows 10, with coverage reporting 66 vulnerabilities including a Windows Kernel zero-day.
- Microsoft says earlier false “end of support” alerts on some Windows 10 systems were corrected via KB5068781 and cloud configuration updates, with offline devices requiring manual remediation.
