Microsoft Expands Windows Copilot With Google Service Links for Insiders

The phased release lets users opt in to cross-service search via granular permissions.

Overview

  • The Copilot Windows app is rolling out to Windows 11 Insiders (version 1.25095.161.0 and higher) with a gradual deployment that began October 9.
  • Users can link OneDrive and Outlook alongside Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Contacts through a new Connectors setting that is off by default.
  • Hands-on testing shows Copilot can locate and open specific files and emails across connected Microsoft and Google accounts in response to natural-language requests.
  • Linking Google services requires explicit OAuth approvals, including options to view or download Drive files, read or send Gmail, and view Calendar entries.
  • The update adds an export option that can turn Copilot responses into Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files or a PDF, with a one-click button for longer outputs.
