Microsoft Expands AI-Powered Recall Feature to Intel and AMD PCs
The controversial Windows 11 feature now allows users to retrieve past activity with added security measures after its initial Snapdragon-exclusive launch.
- Microsoft's Recall feature, which captures and analyzes screenshots for easier retrieval of past activity, is now available on Intel and AMD Copilot+ PCs via the Windows Insider Program.
- Previously exclusive to Qualcomm Snapdragon PCs, Recall can now be tested by users running Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.2510 (KB5048780) on x86 systems.
- Security enhancements include Windows Hello authentication, BitLocker and Secure Boot requirements, and automatic filtering of sensitive data such as passwords and credit card numbers.
- Users must manually enable Recall, which allows natural language search and features like 'Click to Do' for AI-powered actions such as copying or summarizing text from snapshots.
- Additional updates include expanded AI tools for Photos and Paint apps, such as image generation and restyling, now available to Intel and AMD Copilot+ PCs.
