Microsoft Establishes CoreAI Division to Lead AI Development

Microsoft has launched a new engineering division, CoreAI – Platform and Tools, to advance its AI platform and developer tools.
Jay Parikh, previously Meta's global head of engineering, will lead the division as Executive Vice President, reporting directly to CEO Satya Nadella.
CoreAI combines teams from Microsoft's Dev Division, AI Platform, and Office of the CTO, focusing on building AI applications like GitHub Copilot and AI agent technologies.
The division aims to create an 'AI-first app stack,' reshaping application development and integrating AI capabilities across Microsoft's ecosystem.
The move reflects Microsoft's strategy to reduce reliance on OpenAI while positioning Azure as the infrastructure backbone for AI innovation.
