Overview
- Windows 11 24H2 devices began logging CertificateServicesClient (CertEnroll) Error ID 57 after installing the July 2025 non-security preview update (KB5062660) and the August security update.
- The Event Viewer entry states “The ‘Microsoft Pluton Cryptographic Provider’ provider was not loaded because initialization failed,” appearing on every device restart.
- Microsoft says the logged error is a harmless byproduct of a feature still under development and does not affect any active Windows component or process.
- The Windows Release Health dashboard was updated between August 11 and 13 to advise users and administrators to disregard the error messages temporarily.
- A patch to remove the misleading diagnostic entries is scheduled for a forthcoming Windows update, following similar fixes for false warnings in recent months.
