Microsoft Brings Original Xbox Games to Windows With Native PC Ports

Microsoft presents the program as a preservation effort to widen PC access through a staged rollout with further titles expected later this year.

Overview

  • Microsoft launched the “Xbox Backward Compatibility on PC” program on Thursday by releasing four original Xbox games as native Windows ports.
  • The initial lineup includes BLiNX: The Time Sweeper, Conker: Live & Reloaded, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, and Fuzion Frenzy, each priced around €9.99.
  • Game Pass subscribers can stream or play the titles, and users who own a linked digital console license can access the PC versions without repurchasing.
  • Microsoft published minimum system requirements (Windows 11 Pro, Intel Core i3-10300 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100, GTX 950/RX 550/Intel Arc A310, 8 GB RAM) and added PC-specific options such as up to 4x resolution scaling, VSync, windowed/fullscreen modes, anisotropic filtering, and enhanced anti-aliasing.
  • The rollout is staged and currently requires the Xbox Insider build for some users, with some seeing streaming-only access now, and Microsoft says more original Xbox titles plus Achievements will arrive later though the total scope is unspecified.
