Overview

• Summarize, Write, and Rewrite now run locally in Notepad without a Microsoft 365 subscription or an internet connection.
• The preview is rolling out to Windows 11 Insiders in the Canary and Dev channels on supported Copilot+ PCs.
• On-device processing uses the NPU in Copilot+ hardware, replacing the prior requirement for cloud processing with account sign-in.
• Subscribers can switch between local and cloud models within the app based on their needs.
• The features currently support English only, and users can disable them in settings or use the classic notepad.exe instead.
