Microsoft Begins Staged Rollout of Windows 11 Version 25H2 as an Enablement Update

The release arrives as a lightweight enablement on 24H2, with most visible changes scheduled to reach devices over the next few weeks.

Overview

  • General availability starts today via Windows Update in controlled waves, and devices can be prioritized by turning on the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” toggle.
  • Version 25H2 shares the 24H2 code base and installs quickly as a small enablement package; upgrade blocks and compatibility holds still apply.
  • New UI and AI features, including the updated Start menu, will roll out separately and will also arrive on 24H2 rather than being exclusive to 25H2.
  • Multiple install paths are available now, including direct enablement packages, official ISOs, the Installation Assistant, and the Media Creation Tool.
  • For IT admins, Microsoft confirms 36 months of servicing for Enterprise/Education, WSUS availability beginning October 14, Wi‑Fi 7 enterprise support, policy-based removal of select preinstalled Store apps, and Autopatch support.
