Microsoft and Asus Unveil Dual-Model ROG Xbox Ally Handheld Gaming PC

Overview

  • The ROG Xbox Ally line, comprising a base model and the premium Ally X variant, is set to arrive during the 2025 holiday season with pricing to be announced.
  • Both consoles run Windows 11 and boot into a dedicated Xbox interface, granting access to Game Pass, Steam, Epic Games Store, Discord, Twitch and PC ports of PlayStation titles.
  • The base Ally features an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor with 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD, while the Ally X upgrades to a Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip with 24 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD.
  • Key hardware includes a 7-inch 1080p display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and VRR support, impulse triggers, custom hand grips and a dedicated Xbox button.
  • Xbox boss Phil Spencer calls the project the tightest collaboration between Microsoft’s gaming and Windows groups in three decades, and Microsoft is working with developers to optimize games for handheld play.
