Microsoft and ASUS Open Pre-Orders for Xbox-Branded ROG Ally Handhelds at $599 and $999

U.S. pricing exceeds UK and EU tags, with coverage pointing to tariffs and import costs as key drivers.

Overview

  • Pre-orders are live in 38 markets for the ROG Xbox Ally ($599.99) and the higher-spec ROG Xbox Ally X ($999.99), with both set to ship on October 16.
  • The Ally X upgrades to AMD’s Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme with an NPU, 24GB LPDDR5X RAM, 1TB storage, and an 80Wh battery, while the base Ally uses a Ryzen Z2 A (4-core Zen 2, RDNA 2), 16GB RAM, 512GB storage, and a 60Wh battery.
  • Early allocations are moving fast, with Microsoft saying Ally X pre-orders sold out on the Xbox Store worldwide and several retailers showing fluctuating stock.
  • In the U.S., retail access is narrower for the Ally X, which is available through Best Buy, Microsoft, and ASUS, whereas the standard Ally is listed more broadly at Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and others.
  • Both devices run Windows 11 with a full-screen Xbox mode and are covered by Microsoft’s Handheld Compatibility Program, and some retailer bundles include three months of Xbox Game Pass.
