Citing community feedback, Microsoft plans to seek an alternative site in Southeast Wisconsin.

Overview

  • The 244-acre proposal near Douglas Avenue and County Line Road, across from the Oak Creek power plant, will not proceed.
  • A Microsoft spokesperson said the company will work with Caledonia and Racine County leaders to identify a site that fits community priorities.
  • Resident pushback included weeks of testimony and a petition with more than 2,000 signatures opposing the rezoning.
  • The Caledonia Plan Commission had voted 5–2 to advance rezoning to the Village Board, and officials have not said how they will handle the pending item.
  • The project would have been Microsoft’s third Racine County data center, as the company continues expanding in nearby Mount Pleasant.
