Micron Samples 9650 PCIe 6.0 SSDs, Introduces PCIe 5.0 7600 and 6600 ION QLC Series

Micron has started sampling its latest SSD portfolio—featuring PCIe 6.0 performance plus high-capacity QLC storage—before full platform support arrives in 2026.

Overview

  • The Micron 9650 PCIe 6.0 SSDs deliver up to 28 GB/s sequential read speeds and 5.5 million IOPS in Pro (1 DWPD) and Max (3 DWPD) variants.
  • The 7600 PCIe 5.0 mainstream series offers up to 12 GB/s read throughput, 7 GB/s write performance and 2.1 million IOPS across Pro and Max models.
  • The 6600 ION QLC SSDs leverage Micron’s G9 NAND to provide 122.88 TB of capacity today with plans for 245.76 TB units in the first half of 2026.
  • Sample shipments for all three SSD lines have begun immediately with broader availability slated for later in 2025.
  • Wider PCIe 6.0 adoption hinges on AMD’s Venice and Intel’s Diamond Rapids platforms, now expected in 2026.
