Overview

  • The 9650 Gen6 NVMe SSD achieves up to 28 GB/s sequential read and 14 GB/s sequential write speeds, roughly doubling PCIe 5.0 performance.
  • Built on a proprietary controller paired with 9th-gen 276-layer TLC NAND, the drive targets AI inference and high-throughput workloads in E1.S and E3.S form factors.
  • Samples of the 9650 Gen6 and the sub-millisecond-latency 7600 Gen5 SSD are shipping now to enterprise customers.
  • Micron’s 6600 ION family will begin shipping 122.88 TB models in Q3 2025, with a 245 TB variant slated for release in the first half of 2026.
  • Through vertical integration of controller design, NAND production and firmware optimization, Micron boosts power efficiency and capacity scaling for hyperscale storage.
