Michoacán Launches Construction of Second Ring Road’s Segment 5 in Morelia

Officials pledge state-only financing with no new debt, keeping the route toll-free.

Overview

  • The state committed more than 500 million pesos in 100% state resources for Segment 5 without new public debt.
  • The new stretch will run from the Mil Cumbres exit to the Ciudad Salud hospital area, built to highway dimensions and toll-free.
  • SCOP says hospital-area mobility will remain unaffected because the road follows a new alignment, with only a potential temporary detour near Jaripeo during specific works.
  • Segments 1, 4 and 5 span about 51 kilometers with over 2.6 billion pesos invested to date.
  • Authorities are securing 60-meter rights-of-way for a seven-segment, nearly 90-kilometer ring, enabling future widening after substantial earthworks now underway.
