Leaders committed to deliver the communities’ requests to President Claudia Sheinbaum today.

Overview

  • Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla and Segob subsecretary Félix Arturo Medina met in Morelia with 37 indigenous authorities from p’urhépecha, otomí, náhuatl, pirinda and mazahua communities.
  • Delegates prioritized strengthening community security groups known as kuarichas and installing interagency operations bases (BOI).
  • Additional proposals called for improved health services, road upgrades, and new cultural houses and sports facilities.
  • Officials described the plan’s construction as a participatory process that already involves the Church, mayors, business leaders, and the education and productive sectors.
  • The consultations build on earlier hearings in the p’urhépecha region and include a proposal to integrate the first stage of the Plan de Justicia del Pueblo Purépecha.
