Michigan Woman Arrested for Assaulting Grocery Store Clerk Over Insufficient EBT Funds

The 21-year-old, caught on video striking the clerk in the face, could face up to a year in prison if convicted.

Shelby Parham, a 21-year-old woman in Michigan, was arrested after assaulting a Kroger grocery store clerk when her EBT card didn't have enough funds for her groceries.
The incident, which was caught on surveillance video, shows Parham striking the 49-year-old clerk in the face, causing her to fall and lose consciousness momentarily.
The clerk was transported to a hospital for treatment for a head injury and is now recovering at home with a black eye and experiencing headaches.
Parham, who was with her 1-year-old daughter at the time of the incident, was arrested within minutes and charged with a misdemeanor of aggravated assault.
If convicted, Parham could face up to a year in prison.
