Michigan Temporarily Expands Double Up Food Bucks as SNAP Issuances Face Nov. 1 Pause

The move aims to preserve access to healthy food during the federal budget stalemate.

Overview

  • Earned Double Up credits no longer expire, and the $20 daily match cap is suspended to allow unlimited matching on remaining SNAP balances.
  • Many frozen fruits and vegetables without added sugar, salt, or oil now qualify for matching at participating sites.
  • Participants will receive a $40 voucher on Nov. 1 for fresh and frozen produce, delivered via Double Up cards or apps, store loyalty cards, or printed tokens and coupons.
  • The expanded rules take effect for November and remain in place through December 31, according to the state and Fair Food Network.
  • Michigan Bridge Card holders are automatically eligible at nearly 250 retail stores and farmers markets statewide, and any existing SNAP funds on cards remain usable after Nov. 1.
