Michigan Mother Faces Life in Prison for Allegedly Abandoning Three Children in Filthy Home for Years

Authorities say the children, aged 15, 13, and 12, lived in extreme neglect and squalor since 2020, surviving on sporadic food deliveries and without basic hygiene or education.

Kelli Marie Bryant, 34, has been charged with three counts of first-degree child abuse, each carrying a maximum sentence of life in prison.
The children were found living alone in a Pontiac, Michigan home filled with garbage, mold, and human waste, with no functioning toilet and limited food supplies.
Authorities report the children had not attended school or left the home in years, with the girls reportedly stepping outside only twice since 2020 or 2021.
The siblings were taken to a hospital for evaluation, where they displayed severe neglect, including matted hair, soiled clothing, and difficulty performing basic hygiene tasks.
Prosecutors are pursuing the termination of Bryant’s parental rights while the children are now in the care of a relative and receiving support from social services.
