Michigan Mother Arrested After 3 Children Found Living Alone in Squalor for Years

Police discovered three siblings in a trash-filled home with no working toilet, abandoned by their mother since 2020 or 2021.

The children, aged 15, 13, and 12, were found in a Pontiac, Michigan home, living in conditions described as 'absolute squalor,' with garbage, mold, and human waste throughout.
The siblings had not attended school or been outside in years, surviving on food sporadically dropped off by their mother or a stranger.
Authorities revealed that the children had no access to hygiene products, wore soiled clothing, and were unfamiliar with basic hygiene practices such as flushing a toilet.
The mother, who had limited contact with her son and none with her daughters, was arrested and is being held while prosecutors review potential charges.
The children have been placed in the custody of a relative, and efforts are underway to address their medical, educational, and emotional needs.
