Overview
- The attacker was identified as 27-year-old Ryan Louis Mosqueda, a Michigan resident reported missing from Weslaco earlier that morning.
- Mosqueda arrived in a vehicle with Michigan plates carrying rifles, ammunition and spray-painted messages before opening fire at the annex entrance.
- U.S. Border Patrol agents and McAllen police returned fire to neutralize the shooter without any federal agent casualties.
- Two McAllen officers and a Border Patrol employee were injured in the exchange, including one officer shot in the knee and all expected to recover.
- McAllen International Airport briefly closed for security and has since reopened under an ongoing FBI probe into possible motives and accomplices.
