Michigan Couple Dies in Separate Tragedies Within 24 Hours

Scott and Mary Lou Levitan, both 66, passed away following an ice-fishing accident and a car crash in Oakland County, Michigan.

Scott Levitan fell through the ice while ice fishing with his grandson on Lake George on December 26 and was removed from life support several days later.
His 15-year-old grandson also fell into the water during a rescue attempt but was saved by a neighbor and later treated and released from the hospital.
Mary Lou Levitan died in a car crash on December 27 while traveling to retrieve her husband’s vehicle from the ice-fishing site.
The crash occurred when a 19-year-old driver crossed the centerline and collided head-on with the vehicle in which Mary Lou was a backseat passenger.
Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard described the events as an 'unspeakable tragedy,' with investigations into the car crash ongoing.
