• Maleyko will take office on Dec. 8, with Chief Deputy Sue Carnell serving as interim superintendent in early October following Michael Rice’s retirement.
• The board selected Maleyko on Aug. 26 in a 5-3 vote from three finalists after a national search.
• The agreement was executed by board president Pamela Pugh and board secretary Judy Pritchett after the board authorized negotiations earlier this month.
• Maleyko has led Dearborn Public Schools since 2015, where the district reached a 95% graduation rate and earned six U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon school honors, and he has worked on the state’s Top 10 Strategic Education Plan.
