Michelin Guide Italy 2026 Unveiled: Mammoliti’s La Rei Natura Earns Three Stars

Fewer new stars than 2025, coupled with high-profile downgrades and closures, signal a turbulent year for Italian fine dining.

Overview

  • Presented in Parma, the 71st Italian edition elevates La Rei Natura by Michelangelo Mammoliti in Serralunga d’Alba to three stars, bringing Italy’s total tristellati to 15.
  • Two restaurants move up to two stars: Famiglia Rana in Oppeano (chef Francesco Sodano) and Tenerumi on Vulcano (chef Davide Guidara).
  • Twenty-two restaurants gain a first star, with Rome strengthening its standing through new entries Ineo and La Terrazza, while Tivoli’s Al Madrigale also secures a star and the Opening of the Year award.
  • Notable setbacks include Miramonti l’Altro dropping from two to one star and Casa Vissani losing its last star; other losses stem from closures, transfers or renovations, including Essenza in Terracina after a fatal ceiling collapse.
  • Special prizes go to Giulia Tavolaro (Service) and Ivana Capraro (Sommelier), Mattia Pecis (Young Chef) and Heinz Beck (Mentor), with just five new Green Stars and a reduced haul of new one-star awards versus last year.
