Michael Rowland Announces Departure from ABC News Breakfast After 15 Years

Michael Rowland, co-host of ABC News Breakfast since 2010, has announced his departure, with his final broadcast scheduled for December 13, 2024.
Rowland described his time on the program as the best job of his career but noted that the early hours had taken a toll on his health after 15 years of 3am starts.
He plans to take an extended break from broadcasting before returning to the ABC in mid-2025 to focus on new projects.
During his tenure, Rowland covered major events, including US presidential elections, the global financial crisis, the Black Summer bushfires, and the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
ABC News Breakfast has seen several recent departures, including co-host Lisa Millar in August and sports presenter Tony Armstrong in October; Rowland’s replacement will be announced at a later date.
