Their expertise will support the museum’s expanding public events during preparations for a 5,000-square-foot New York Historical gallery set to debut in 2027.

  • Michael Kors and Lance Le Pere have been elected to the Board of Trustees of the American LGBTQ+ Museum.
  • Construction began in December 2024 on a 5,000-square-foot gallery at the New York Historical on Central Park West, with the space expected to open in 2027.
  • The couple’s philanthropic record includes support for God’s Love We Deliver, the United Nations World Food Programme and the founding of the Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center.
  • Since its 2017 founding, the museum has offered public events and programming, most recently the “Queer Justice” exhibition in partnership with Lambda Legal.
  • Executive Director Ben Garcia said Kors and Le Pere’s leadership will strengthen the museum’s capacity to preserve and celebrate LGBTQ+ cultures and histories.
