Overview
- MHADA’s Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board floated tenders on June 12 to appoint a developer for the Kamathipura cluster under Regulation 33(9) of the DCPR 2034.
- The plan covers 34 acres in South Mumbai and will replace 943 century-old cessed buildings with roughly 4,500 new residential units and mixed-use spaces.
- It guarantees permanent homes for 8,001 tenants and compensatory units for 800 landowners, allocating dwelling sizes based on plot area.
- Developers will gain about 44,000 square meters of development rights to deliver upgraded streets, commercial zones and recreational grounds.
- The initiative enjoys backing from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and local legislators including Ameen Patel.
