MHADA Expands Affordable Housing Lottery and Launches Outreach Campaign
The Konkan Board increases available homes to over 16,000 and deploys street plays, kiosks, and stalls to boost applications before the December 10 deadline.
- MHADA's Konkan Board has increased the number of affordable homes in its 2024 housing scheme from 12,626 to over 16,000 units, priced between ₹15 lakh and ₹1 crore.
- The initiative includes 14,047 homes available on a first-come, first-served basis and over 2,200 through a lottery system, with unsold units from previous draws included.
- To address lukewarm interest, MHADA has launched a campaign featuring street plays, flyers, and 29 information kiosks at high-traffic locations like railway stations and government offices.
- As of December 2, over 11,800 applications have been submitted, but only 4,076 include the required earnest money deposit, prompting officials to consider extending the December 10 application deadline.
- The homes are located across Mumbai Metropolitan Region districts such as Thane, Kalyan, Virar, and Palghar, with amenities like water supply, sewage treatment plants, and in some cases, swimming pools and clubhouses.
