MHADA and Adani Sign ₹36,000-Crore Pact for Motilal Nagar Redevelopment

Under MHADA’s new C&D model the seven-year plan will rebuild 3,372 homes, 328 shops, 1,600 slum tenements with design by Mecanoo alongside Buro Happold.

Overview

  • MHADA and Adani Properties signed the formal redevelopment agreement on July 7, naming Adani as the construction and development agency.
  • Spanning 142 acres in Goregaon (West), the project covers Motilal Nagar colonies 1, 2 and 3 under the C&D framework enabled by state and Supreme Court approvals.
  • Eligible residents will receive free 1,600-square-foot apartments as part of the social rehabilitation scheme under the 1971 Slum Act.
  • Master planners Mecanoo and Buro Happold will integrate a five-acre central park, solar-equipped residential blocks and upgraded traffic layouts.
  • Construction of the rehabilitation units is slated for completion within seven years, and MHADA will acquire substantial built-up area to expand its housing stock.
