Overview
- Advocate Shri Singh has been appointed Special Public Prosecutor for NIA case RC-02/2025/NIA/JMU for a term of up to three years or until the trial concludes.
- The prosecutor will represent the agency before the NIA Special Court in Jammu and the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh under provisions of the NIA Act and BNSS, 2023.
- The NIA is expected to file its chargesheet soon as a 45-day court-approved extension expires this week, with Lashkar-e-Taiba and two local facilitators likely to be named.
- Bashir Ahmad Jothar and Parvez/Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar were arrested on June 22 for allegedly sheltering the gunmen at a Hill Park dhok and, during interrogation, disclosed the attackers’ identities.
- Authorities say the April 22 assault that killed 26 people was carried out by Pakistan-based LeT operatives who were later killed on July 28, and the NIA has questioned more than 1,000 people in the probe.
