MHA Appoints Rajeev Verma as Delhi Chief Secretary to Take Charge Oct. 1

The 1992-batch AGMUT officer returns to Delhi after leadership roles in Chandigarh, then Puducherry.

Overview

  • The Home Ministry announced the posting on Sunday with an effective date of October 1.
  • Verma succeeds Dhamendra, who took charge last September and retires this month.
  • He has been serving as Chief Secretary of Chandigarh since last year after an earlier stint leading Puducherry.
  • In Delhi, he previously served as Finance and Revenue Secretary from 2018 to 2022 and held key roles in the Transport department.
  • A 1992-batch AGMUT IAS officer with an MTech from an IIT, he has also worked in the Defence, Power, and Health and Family Welfare ministries.
