Overview
- An official Home Ministry order signed by Director Anish Muraleedharan posts 1996-batch IPS officer Mukesh Singh as Ladakh’s police chief with immediate effect.
- S.D. Singh Jamwal, who led Ladakh Police since mid-2023, has been transferred to Arunachal Pradesh as DGP, replacing Anand Mohan.
- Anand Mohan, a 1994-batch officer, has been moved to New Delhi, where he may be accommodated in the Delhi Police, according to the order.
- Mukesh Singh was repatriated from central deputation with the ITBP and previously served with the NIA and the Jammu and Kashmir Police; he is an IIT Delhi graduate.
- The reshuffle follows a period of heightened scrutiny of policing in Ladakh after the September 2025 protests and the NSA detention of activist Sonam Wangchuk, on whom Jamwal had publicly commented.
