MHA Appoints Dr Sagar Preet Hooda as Chandigarh DGP

  • A Ministry of Home Affairs order issued July 15 transferred Hooda from his post as Special Commissioner in Delhi Police to assume charge as Chandigarh’s Director General of Police.
  • He officially took over today, ending Inspector General Rajkumar Singh’s interim tenure after Singh led the force since April.
  • Hooda is a 1997-batch AGMUT-cadre IPS officer who began his career as assistant superintendent of police in Chandigarh in the late 1990s.
