About 40 Chinese families are suing Malaysia Airlines, Boeing, and the manufacturer of the plane's engine for compensation, a formal apology, and the resumption of psychological assistance.
Relatives of the victims are also demanding the creation of a fund to continue searches for the plane.
The hearings are expected to last until December 5, with each family presenting their case.
