Overview
- MG introduced the MG4 EV Urban as a separate model on a new platform that will be sold alongside the existing MG4, using front-wheel drive and offering two LFP battery sizes and two motor power levels.
- The Urban’s official entry price is €24,990 and MG is offering an EV bonus of up to €6,000 that can significantly lower the effective purchase price for buyers.
- An independent drive in Munich recorded consumption of about 11 kWh per 100 km and extrapolated roughly 400 km of real-world range for the 54 kWh version, a result close to MG’s WLTP claim under favorable conditions.
- Charging is rated at 11 kW AC and up to 82–87 kW DC, and the practical test observed a long, stable DC charging curve that started around 87 kW at low state of charge, stayed above ~82 kW through higher SoC, and reached about 90% in roughly 40 minutes.
- The Urban prioritizes space and cost over sporty dynamics and premium trim, offering a 2,750 mm wheelbase, 470 L boot plus 98 L underfloor storage and 1,362 L with seats folded, while reviewers noted cheaper interior plastics, subdued regen braking feel and traction issues on some tires.
