Mexico's 'Plan Michoacán' Nets 10 Arrests as Forces Seize Clandestine Meth Lab

Authorities emphasize territorial control to shield avocado and citrus supply chains.

  • Mexico’s Security Cabinet reported 10 detainees in Uruapan, Tarímbaro, Apatzingán and Huetamo, with eight firearms, 438 cartridges, doses of methamphetamine, five kilograms of marijuana and five vehicles secured.
  • The Army and National Guard located a clandestine lab between Turicato and Nocupétaro, where they seized about 335 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine, six reactors, seven condensers, chemical precursors and a vehicle.
  • Cumulative results since November 10 include 165 people detained, 68 firearms, 7,409 rounds, 375 magazines, 145 vehicles, 90 explosive devices, 53 kilograms of explosive material, 426 kilograms of meth, large volumes of drug chemicals, 10 camps and 30 illegal fuel taps disabled.
  • Within Operation Paricutín, Michoacán’s public security force detained two people in Sahuayo and Tingambato and seized two long guns, three vehicles, roughly 400 liters of illicit fuel and about 1.3 kilograms of marijuana.
  • Regional actions continued as Peruvian ministers led a night operation in Lima Este and Norte with over 250 police, detaining three people with firearms and seizing more than 1,600 devices, while in Mexico a Naucalpan kidnapping attempt was foiled by bystanders and an armed group robbed a Nissan warehouse in Jiutepec, with investigations ongoing.
