Mexico’s Multi-State Raids Seize Arms, Explosives, Chemicals and 75,000 Liters of Fuel

Officials say the Jan. 5–7 push advances a longer campaign to choke criminal logistics, with cases now moving to federal prosecutors.

Overview

  • Security forces reported coordinated actions in nine states that produced arrests and the seizure of firearms, ammunition, drugs and vehicles under the national security strategy.
  • In Tabasco and Tamaulipas, authorities seized 75,000 liters of hydrocarbons, including 45,000 liters in a Villahermosa autotank lacking legal documentation and about 30,000 liters in a Nuevo Laredo trailer, with drivers detained.
  • A raid in Xochimilco, Mexico City, recovered six long guns, a grenade-launcher attachment, explosives and drugs hidden in water tanks, and rescued 27 dogs as two suspects identified as Joran “N” and Jaime “N” face federal probes; media reported alleged Sinaloa cartel ties not confirmed by officials.
  • In Aguaruto, Culiacán, an interagency patrol seized a factory-armored pickup with overlaid plates and high-capacity magazines with 208 cartridges, turning the vehicle and munitions over to the federal attorney general’s office.
  • Separate Sinaloa operations dismantled a storage site for drug-making chemicals and reported significant economic impact to organized crime, while the Plan Michoacán effort detained 12 people, seized vehicles and disabled a clandestine fuel tap.
