Mexico's Multi-Agency Raids Hit Synthetic-Drug Operations in Guerrero, Sonora and Sinaloa

A unified federal task force moved the seizures into FGR custody for investigation.

Overview

  • In Petatlán, Guerrero, federal forces located and disabled a warehouse and a clandestine camp used for synthetic-drug production.
  • Authorities in Guerrero inactivated about 24,920 liters and more than 12,200 kilograms of chemical substances at a site capable of producing methamphetamine, tusi and synthetic opioids.
  • Officials estimated the Guerrero seizures inflicted nearly 30 million pesos in economic losses on criminal groups.
  • In San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora, a checkpoint stop yielded 212 kilograms of methamphetamine, 14 kilograms of marijuana and one kilogram of fentanyl from a vehicle traveling from Culiacán to Mexicali, and the driver was detained.
  • On January 14 in Sinaloa, an interagency team disabled 15 clandestine precursor storage areas and turned thousands of liters of hazardous chemicals over to the FGR for destruction, while investigators examine an unproven alleged link tying the Guerrero site to Inés Omar Coronel Aispuro.
