Mexico’s Mobile Telecom Sector Logs Record Q2 Revenues

Equipment sales up 7.3% lifted mobile turnover to its highest quarterly level in five years under a cloud of impending regulatory change.

  • Mobile segment revenues rose 6.5% year-on-year to 92,468 million pesos in Q2, marking a second straight quarter of expansion and the strongest quarterly total since early 2021.

  • Telcel maintained a 66.3% market share with revenues of 60,863 million pesos (up 5.2%), AT&T grew 8.6% to 20,615 million, Telefónica Movistar fell 2.8% to 6,147 million and virtual operators surged 31.1% to 4,843 million.
  • Average revenue per user held at 142.8 pesos in Q2, led by Telcel at 183 pesos and AT&T at 146.7, while Telefónica and OMVs recorded 74.4 and 58 pesos respectively.
