Mexico's Film Commissions Close Pátzcuaro Summit With Push for Exhibition and Legal Certainty

Officials outlined steps to turn a production surge into wider exhibition with legal certainty.

Overview

  • The 13th National Meeting in Pátzcuaro drew more than 60 participants, bringing together representatives from 26 states and four municipalities.
  • Imcine and Comefilm cited 240 feature films produced last year in Mexico and said they are working on strategies to secure exhibition for those titles.
  • The national network now counts 39 liaison links, with 14 states already enacting film laws and nine preparing legislative initiatives to provide juridical certainty for producers.
  • Participants flagged financial incentives and on-site security for crews as the two recurring constraints for attracting and supporting productions.
  • Host commission Cofilmich promoted Michoacán with the slogan “Lo viste en la pantalla, lo vives en Michoacán” and led sessions on attraction models, AI and VR, INAH coordination, plus site visits to Civaq, Janitzio and Tzintzuntzan.
