Mexico’s Education Ministry Puts Trans-Inclusion Guidance on Today’s Teacher Agenda

The guidance functions as an advisory CTE tool within the Nueva Escuela Mexicana focus on dignity and diversity.

Overview

  • The SEP circulated the document titled “Infancias y adolescencias trans y no binarias” for discussion in Friday’s nationwide Consejo Técnico Escolar sessions.
  • Teachers were asked to review a SEP video, hear a Canal Once testimony, consult CONAPRED materials, and work through practical cases on names, pronouns, and uniforms.
  • Recommended school measures include immediate response to discrimination reports, bathroom and locker-room use by gender identity, neutral spaces when possible, and teacher training.
  • The guidance also urges informing parents respectfully, integrating inclusion into school improvement plans, and partnering with human-rights and family groups.
  • The Frente Nacional por la Familia denounced the material as ideological and lacking consultation, while Educación con Rumbo called for active parental participation and clear child-protection protocols.
