The new agency will professionalize cultural managers through a national repository of proven local initiatives, launching a certification program with universities via the education ministry.

Overview

  • The Secretariat of Culture formally inaugurated the Dirección General de Formación y Gestión Cultural on August 11–12 with Lucina Jiménez as director and a 3 million-peso operating budget.
  • It signed a memorandum of understanding with IDARTES and engaged UNESCO and the Global Network of Cities and Local Governments to build an international Bank of Good Practices for cultural management.
  • The ministry launched the “Cultiva México” call to gather at least 50 proven local initiatives into a national repository, accepting submissions until September 30.
  • A parallel Programa Nacional de Gestión y Cultura Artística will certify cultural managers through agreements with the education ministry and a network of universities across multiple states.
  • Officials are now advancing detailed implementation and planning next year’s budget to expand training programs, international colloquiums and good-practice scaling nationwide.
